How to Emphasize a Small Waist

Happy New Year <3

Hi lovelies

Just catching the end of New Year's Day today to do a post. I've been very lazy all Christmas so it's time to get down to business.

I've had a number of searches on my blog asking how to emphasize a small waist. I'm a typical hour glass figure – big hips in line with my shoulders and my favourite asset.. a small waist! So I was flattered when you lovely ladies were looking to my blog for some tips and tricks on how to emphasise your gorgeous tiny waists.

Here are my rules for a getting that small waist noticed...

Rule 1. Structure
For a start, emphasise is all about clothes right? As tempting as it is to follow baggy vest top fashions (like Allsaints flaunt- love their worn effect tees) it just doesn’t suit a small waist. A small waist is hidden in baggy unfitted clothes and needs structure for it to shine.

Which leads me neatly on to Peplums! If you read my blog often you will know I am peplum top obsessed. I just love them! peplums and structured panelled tops in thick or stretchy fabrics will mould or accentuate your curls perfectly. High waisted shorts, trousers and skirts are also must-haves.

Rule 2. Belts
A waist clinching belt is a small-waisted girls best friend! I've always been told wide belts accentuate better however, a cute thin belt can be just as good. Stretch belts make sure your still comfy after lunch time and hug perfectly.

Rule 3. Maintenance
Hula Hooping, Sit-ups, Zumba! Whatever you do, make sure you maintain that gorgeous asset. A small waist can disappear quick, and usually without you even really realising it’s gone. This is the case especially for hour-glasses and pear shaped girls whose hips will always be bigger than their waist so their waist will always look teeny right? Nope! For a kick-ass waist you need the real definition that only exercise in that area brings.

That reminds me... I need small-waist-maintance at the top of my New Year's Resolution list!!

Dorothy Perkins Shoe Haul

OMG I love shoes and I've been absolutely loving Dorothy Perkins at the moment. I've bought a number of really great buys from them recently. Their new stuff is really cute I think, what about you?

I was in need of some smart black flats for work but ended up getting these lace loafer style slip-ons instead. I think they are alot prettier and eye-catching but still smart enough for the office. (I hope!) Love the cute bows too!

I've also been wearing heels more often and trying not to slouch around too much in my Bearpaw boots and look scruffy- so I bought these gorgeous tan heels. They're the perfect height, just higher than kitten heels (I HATE kitten heels: eww) and with a padded sole so they're extra comfy.

Shoes or handbags? What's your obession? hehe

HAUL: Dorothy Perkins, River Island and Babyliss

Hi Lovelies!

Hope you're enjoying the weekend :)

As it's nearly Christmas I've been treating myself ways too much! I went out on a little present-finding trip and came back with more goodies for myself than for anyone else... oops!

What I bought was a golden shimmery 3/4 length peplum top and some black Eden jean leggings from Dorothy Perkins. I'm in LOVE with DottyP's Eden Leggings. They are super soft and soo comfy. Bestie introduced me to em.

I also got yet another peplum from River Island. It cost £25. I liked it because of its long sleeves and pannelled tweed front and back. Peplum obsessed I know: Check out my other peplum tops at my Youtube Channel.

I also ordered a Babyliss Pro 38mm large barrelled curling iron which came through the post at the same time.. eekk! so much new stuff! Check out my Youtube video of my initial thoughts on the curling iron.

What have you bought recently? Please send me links to your haul posts below!!

What I've been wearing from my latest Haul

Miss Selfridge White Blouse

River Island Dark Navy High Waisted Hot Pants

Heya Girlies <3

In my last haul post I showed you a few items I'd bought. I didn't get a chance to show you them on as I was in a bit of a hurry so wanted to do a quick post to show you how I've been styling them :)

The first photo is a work outfit with my new Miss Selfridge top. I find that you only really get a feel for clothes once you've worn them for a day and I really love this top. The material is so soft and floaty and really girly. I've already had a number of comments about it so I'm pleased!

The other two photos are of my teeny tiny River Island hot pants. These sadly I haven't worked up the courage to wear yet. See I got all dressed up and ready to head out in the outfit above... then sighed and changed into boring jeans! This hot pants buy was much more of a lust item for me. I love high waisted pieces and the shorts are so cute I just had to have them.

Lastly, Just a couple of recent buys below from Dorothy Perkins. Nice chunky rings are always a hit and I really liked the pastel skull bracelet.. perhaps a little quirky but hey. Plus they were in the sale for a few quid...Bargain!

What I wore

Dress: Republic
Bag: TopShop
Heels: Dorothy Perkins
Jewels: Warehouse, Newlook and Accessorize

This is an outfit I wore going out with boyf recently. I bought the dress from Republic a couple of weeks ago and am in love with it! If you've been reading my blog you'll have noticed a couple of posts about the cut out trend. I've got too cut-out dresses which I absolutely love and have been wearing non-stop. We had a really fun night out, the photo was taken after it rather than before hence the shiny face... eww sorry about that. My make up did look better before the night out, promise! <3

Anyone else braving the cut-out trend dresses?

Dorothy Perkins Haul

Last Weekend I went to a wedding and it was the most lovely wedding ever. Lots of little cute personal touches and heartwarming speeches (boyf's nan was welling up bless her). We spent the morning rushing around like mad though as Boyf hadn't actually found a suit yet!! So whilst panicing for him I managed to do a spot of shopping for me... naturally!

I found these amazingly beautiful nude spotted mega heels in Dorothy Perkins. They were in the sale too which made them extra beautiful ;) I love the little strap and the soft colour. In the photos they don't actually look as painfully high as they are but walking in them in real life I can assure you they are. I had forgotten what it was like to walk in such high heels but will be wearing them again as they made my calves look lovely and slim lined in the photos.

I also bought a gorgeous deep grey coloured floaty jacket. It has extra material at the front which hangs down nicely in drapes which I love. The material is so soft too and has been intricately tailored so that its a perfect fit. I'm wearing it and my new heels in the photo below... Happy Wedding smile!

The best from the co-ordinates trend

From left to right: Warehouse, TopShop, River Isand

I've been eager to buy a blazer and shorts Co-ord combo since the trend hit the high street. I first saw it in River Island with an extra cute matching floral blazer, top and shorts. These are my top three favourite Co-ord outfits from the trend.

1. Warehouse matching floral skirt and crop top. The high waist pencil skirt is gorgeous on its own and would be a perfect summer wardrobe staple for work. I love fitted pencil skirts for work but get bored of plain black. This one with its pretty pattern gives it a summery girly look with the structure all good pencil skirts bring. The little crop top is just short enough to hint and a midrift which I love. Some girls have the stomach to pull off a full 90's Spice Girls crop top but I think the teasing amount on show with this outfit is sexier.

2. The beautful soft colour was what attracted me to this Topshop blazer and shorts co-ord. The colour is bang on the pastel trend this Summer and is such a pretty subtle colour. I'd wear the jacket open and match with a white blouse and white plimsolls for a double match.

3. As the Jubilee is just around the corner I couldn't not pick this kitsch printed blazer and top. I do absolutely ADORE the print, it's so British and the peach pink trim and inner is very well matched. River Island do a really great range of co-ords and this one is perfect for standing out just as much as the Queen on the big day. :)

From left to right: Dorothy Perkins, Missguided, Forever 21

4. Dorothy Perkins rocking the retro double denim co-ord. Mixing it up here with a double denim look, I think it would look great at a festival with flowers in your hair, cons and an oversized vest top.

5 I love the way this daring bright crop top and high waisted shorts combo looks on the model but I don't know if I'd be confident enough to wear it myself. My pins aren't that perfect hehe. All the same I LOVE it, love the bright colour splatters and it looks great on bronzed skin. Thumbs up for Missguided

6. I no, it's another pink co-ord. Sorry I couldn't help myself. This high waisted shorts and blazer co-ord from Forever 21 is too cute. Love the soft but bright pink and the short tux style blazer.

What will you be wearing on Jubilee day? Any followers of the Co-ord trend?
